What was your inspiration?
I must admit that in my 20+ years of knitting and crocheting, this is my first granny blanket! I am a child raised in the 60's and 70's, so, you can hardly blame me! ARG! If you were raised during this time, you know what I mean!
Granny squares are making a wonderful comeback....in a big way! All the terrific colors and designs! WOW! While I am not a fan of the traditional granny, I have come up with a style and version that suits my fancy!
What are you most proud of?
Actually completed a granny blanket! Granted, it is a baby blanket measuring 32" W x 40" L and not a bedspread! I also LOVE the colorway!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I am not permitted to provide instructions for the crochet edge as it was taken from a wonderful book Around The Corner Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman. The project and page number are provided in the pattern. A simple crochet edge is suggested in my pattern or you can certainly add your own crocheted edge!
This blanket is the perfect spring snuggler! Lightweight but still cozy!
Pick traditional, primary colors, or, for the more modern mommy, soft creams, chocolates and turquoise! Shades of all the same color would look terrific too! Five or six shades of blue or pink! Shades of grey and yellows are stunning! The skys the limit!
Add tassels, fringe or pom poms to make it extra special!
