What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Using an ironing sheet to protect the iron and prevent pieces of material sticking to it when making the remnant fabric is a good idea

Indeed: Very touchable. The juxtaposition of neo-classical ordered shapes with the rule breaking nature of the technique looks very witty, too.
