Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I wanted to test different colored cocoa butter techniques and cake decorating. Top tier: White fondant has hand-painted grapes (with deliberate brush stroke texture) and a suede-finish airbrushed burgundy base. Bottom tier: White fondant hand-painted with slightly cooled cocoa butter for a brushed texture finish. Trim: Gelatin trim mold antiqued with brown cocoa butter and airbrushed with gold luster. Accent: Gelatin lace with gum paste and plain dragees molded from my mother-in-law's antique costume jewelry pin.
