What was your inspiration?
The idea of joining crochet motifs as you go to make a project. Since this was my first design using this concept used the traditional granny square as my motif. I then altered that for triangles at the top hem of the shawl. For the trim I did 12 rows altering between sc rows, hdc rows, and dc rows. Also on two of the sc rows I added beads. I then finished the edging with an edging featured by Kristin Omdahl in her latest book "The Finer Edge". She calls this edging Deco Scallops.
What are you most proud of?
How well the design elements blend together and the beauty of the yarn. The colors are very vivid and look good in this pattern.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
As you join the motifs work hard at working your ends in as you go so that you don't have as many ends to weave in before you begin the edging.
