What was your inspiration?

Every year I put Grandpa Lloyd's old felt hat on a ceramic pumpkin that I have. I love it so much I thought I would design a table runner with the idea.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you are new to applique.... go slow while doing your blanket stitch around the pieces. But most important.... have fun!

I love your table runner and the story behind it, and your display is so charming! Could you describe it, please?

The finished tablerunner measures 17" x 42", it has a binding free edge and prairie point detail on the ends. The pumpkin design is machine appliqued. I used dark blue and black fabric for the background and orange for the borders...It is one of my first patterns and was sewn at quilt retreat a few years ago. I really enjoyed making it and have fun putting it on display every fall.
