What was your inspiration?
I started following the Ball Monster instructions, but was inspired to make 3 legs instead of 2 or 4. Then I made the body wide enough to fit all 3 legs in an attractive location. But I didn't know how the face was going to be. After the body was finished, I played with ideas, the personality started showing up. I don't have the skills to do the eyes like I wanted. When I do, I can make the 'evolved' Stoolie. I still think Grandpa Stoolie is great himself, even if a bit of a curmudgeon.
The green ball was made by my daughter as she watched the videos
.
And the little guy is my first of some halloween monsters we want to give away on Halloween night. He was inspired by http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/toy/purple-stitch-project-monster-amigurumi/18587
What are you most proud of?
I'm proud that I created it without following someone else's idea/pattern.
And that my daughter is inspired to learn to make these herself.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't feel a need to push through to the whole monster in the class. If making balls or eggs is how far you are ready for, that's ok too. Then add on pieces as you feel ready to add the attachment skills, etc to your repertoire.
Also, I learned that maybe I should spend some time actually sketching out monster/toy ideas.
