What materials did you use? Grand Central Terminal fabrics from the City Quilter in NYC, bottom line thread to quilt the background, kimono silk threads to applique

What are you most proud of? That everything came together in the end! I was developing the ideas as I went along so I made the process of construction much more difficult for myself than it needed to be. But it all worked out (somehow)! I feel that the quilt really addressed the ideas I hoped to convey about the train terminal and about changes in transportation through time.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's a good idea to design your pattern BEFORE your start constructing, if possible. :) When you are making small circles, it's difficult to make a recessed circle (like the small cream colored circles in the compass/clock). Because it was too small to sew the little flaps down without distorting the circle, I first put some wonder-under on the bottom of the fabric. Then I cut out the circles, folded the flaps under and pressed so the flaps would stick to the backside of the fabric. The stitching I did around the small circles is only decorative.

WOW! This is super! I love all parts of it - the applique, the quilting! Well done! (bet you win something for this wonderful original work)

Thanks, Darns!! I hope to be chosen for the second round of judging - then my quilt will be hung in Grand Central!
