Grab and Go Bag #2

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Traditional

Materials

Upholstery fabric, cotton fabric, iron-on interfacing, magnetic snaps, zipper.

What was your inspiration?

I made a small bag this summer and found that I loved having a place for everything in something small and lightweight. The summer pink floral just wasn't working with winter coats and all, so I made some alterations to the original and stitched up another.

What are you most proud of?

I was able to correct some of the shortcomings of the first bag and I added a secure pocket for my cellphone. I was planning to make a pattern this time, but I made so many alterations and decisions as I put this together that I couldn't. Maybe someday...

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to experiment to get what you want. Now that it's done, I'm wondering why I used lining fabric for the card pockets. It would have been so much nicer if I'd just stuck to the main fabric in that location.

Wow, what a great little bag, and so many pockets for all your stuff. I am inspired by you to make some of these. The wrist sling function beats a skinny shoulder strap any day! Great job. I love this little bag.

Thank you! I used it so much. When I'm off to do major shopping or carrying books to the library I just toss it into a big tote. You have the skills to make one exactly suited to your own use. I hope you put it up for us to see.

Thank you. I found this ancient package of vintage buttons to cover at a yard sale many years ago and finally used one. it did add a dressy touch. :-)

Thanks you. If I'm not quilting my bags I always use upholstery fabric. It's so much sturdier more durable and only needs a light interfacing to maintain its shape.

Love it! All features; Practical, Light weight, pretty and all these compartments. Naturally, has to be made by mom. lol

Thanks, daughter. Practical & light weight are the exact reasons I made it. The weight of a regular purse hanging on my shoulder for very long can really make my arthritis to act up.

This came out great! I wish I could make something so detailed without a pattern

Thank you! So glad you like it. Over more than 60 years of sewing one learns a lot of construction tricks.
