Tell us more about what inspired you. I am a quilter and joined a local group of friends in a Wool Applique hand work group several years ago. I love working with wool.

What materials did you use? Pattern name: Gourdy's Gang by Shawn Williams, purchased at a quilt store in 2009, with variations by me. Used: 100% wool, wool felt, embroidery thread, beads, 4 buttons, 100% cotton for backing, large eye needle for sewing, scissors and parchment paper to trace patterns for cutting, and purchased star hanger.

What are you most proud of? neat hand stitching and embellishments with beads was a lot of fun!Finished size is 10.25 x 33 inches (before hanger added).

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Wool and wool felt are very easy to work with, the edges do not fray, and the textures are very soothing. Large or small hand stitches of any variety can be used to attach applique pieces to background fabric. You can also make pillows for the couch, etc. Parchment paper pattern traced can be lightly ironed to wool to "stick", then easily cut out with small sharp scissors. Paper then peels off easily.
