Instructions

Honestly, this backpack pattern was very poorly written. It assumed a lot of things which is why I marked it almost advanced skill level.

I had to make adjustments along the way because of the pattern instruction problems.

I made one of the purses and had no problems.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Cute, Outdoorsy, Goth, Funky, Preppy, Rock / Punk

Materials

Cotton fabric, fusible fleece, magnetic snap, grommet, D-rings

What was your inspiration?

This was a customer request from my neighbor. Her daughter is "semi-goth" (she doesn't wear the goth-type makeup but dresses the part).....gotta love her though. When I saw the fabric (at Joanns), thought of her right away and knew she would like it.

What are you most proud of?

I gotta say being able to make this purse while dealing with the bad instructions. As example, one piece says to cut 2 but the band says cut 1. Took me a few minutes to figure out it was a printing error and ended up with a piece of un-usable fabric piece. But there are other instructions (or lack of) but I managed to be creative enough to work around the "un-instructions". Take God for that !!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Unless you are good at changing a pattern in order to create the end result, I do NOT recommend this pattern.

However, like I said in another area, I did make a purse from the same package and had no problems.
