What was your inspiration?
A nearby restaurant displays all sorts of artificial parrots, macaws, and other exotic birds throughout the building, None are made of yarn. While dining there, I was telling my husband I needed to design a monster for the Craftsy class. He suggested I make a parrot. Sounded like a wonderful challenge to me. I will present this bird to the owner. Dare I hope that it will end up on display in the restaurant??
What are you most proud of?
This bird turned out exactly as I had envisioned. The wings were made 3 different times, changing size, color, and order of stripes, and the tail was a real challenge to get right, but it finally ended up as I had hoped.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Patience, and experience in crocheting amigurumi. It will not be a speedy project, and requires assembling the macaw and branch with wire.
