Materials

Crochet cotton, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - dark green (4 balls); a size 8 (1.50 mm) steel crochet hook; and a 5/8" diameter curtain rod.

What was your inspiration?

Since my husband is an avid fly fisherman, I was determined to create a filet crochet design incorporating a trout.

What are you most proud of?

I love how the shading of the stitches create the trout and rock designs. I also was able to incorporate the rod pocket into the design so the curtain rod can be woven in and out at the top. I was able to work out a repeat in the rock pattern so the valance can be expanded, too!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a great project for the intermediate crocheter. In addition to detailed instructions, a graph is also provided for reference. The valance is worked from side to side.

The finished size is 51" wide x 18-1/4" - 22" long. Instructions are included to increase the width in 10-1/4" increments.

This pattern is available for $3.50 and is written in U.S. terms.
