Gold Coral Spiral

Gold Coral Spiral Necklace

Gold Coral Spiral Necklace

Instructions

This is a spiral pattern using 2 colors of size 11/0 seed beads. I stitched a gold S hook clasp onto the ends for closure.

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Classic

Materials

Czech glass seed beads 11/0, Nymo D thread and a gold clasp.

What was your inspiration?

To make a necklace from seed beads that would look like fine jewelry.

What are you most proud of?

The spiral effect and combination of colors.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Find a spiral pattern that you like and choose beautiful colors to work with. This spiral took a long time as only one bead was added at a time but the effect was worth it to me.

Pamela - it's written below in my commens - here it is again - The pattern is called "Choker With A Secret." by Leslie Frazier on page 117 of "The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving," by Carol Wilcox Wells, Lark Books. I changed the design so that I did not make the "Slide component" and my 11/0 round seed beads are gold plated and my 11/0 cylinder seed beads are coral color. It is really important that you use both shapes of the 11/0's in order for the pattern to form. This pattern is a variation on Herringbone Stitch. To finish the necklace i stitched in, on both ends one 4x6mm fire polish bead - horizontally, up against the beadwork ends. Through this on both sides I wire wrapped a double loop - one loop going through the fire polish bead and the other end going through a soldered jump ring. I attached an "s-clasp" through both jump rings for the closure.

You have done an outstanding job on this elegant necklace! Do you have a picture of the back? Aloha Susan

Susan, I'm glad you like the necklace. I don't have a picture of the back but I will try to take one soon and include it on this page.

Susan, decided to scan the necklace into my computer so you can see the back now. I wire wrapped both ends of the spiral to large closed jump rings and attached the S clasp.
