I saw this in a quilt shop & figured out how to make it with 2" (finished) half-squares. Pretty simple and quick.

Sorry, I didn't include instructions because I just figured it out on my own. (I made this several years ago). Each small 1/2 square ended up to be about 2" I believe you would cut a white square and a red square at 2 7/8", sew 1/2" on each side of the middle, then cut down the middle to make 2 squares. On mine, each row across has 12 half squares. There are 6 rows below the big star. which has 4 solid blue squares in it's middle with 8 blue/white half squares around it and 4 white squares at the corners. Add 4 more rows of red/white half squares beside it to finish the top 4 row. Confusing??? Hope not. That's just off the top of my head. You could make this bigger by making the squares/half squares bigger.
