Instructions

Since I was using tulle I decided to make only one casing and I used extra wide elastic for the waistband.

Materials

I found this amazing glittered and beaded tulle fabric in a champagne color. I couldn't resist. I used a black silk lining underneath. The hair piece is made from felt, vintage button and a piece of the tulle.

What was your inspiration?

I am always searching for new inspiration from other designers and bloggers. I am obsessed with Anna Maria Horner. Her free tutorial for the flirty skirt has become a favorite of mine. It is easy and fast to whip up a new skirt in just a couple hours. Another designer I love is Sarai Mitnick of Colette Patterns. She has a free tutorial for making felt flowers and I was inspired by this and my tulle fabric. I needed to add some sparkle to my hair as well.

What are you most proud of?

I love how the the little bit of snipped tulle adds just the right amount of glitter to the barrette.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Experiment. This pattern is so simple that really any thing goes. Choose fabric that you would otherwise shy away from and have fun!

Can you post directions for the Felt Barrett to go with the skirt? I love it! Thanks.
