What was your inspiration?
Sorry - not the best of pics but this cake was actually a stack of hat, show, make-up boxes...well, rounds that is. They each have a design embossed on the sides (the black cases). This order was for a girl who wanted something for her Black & White themed party that represented her...which she said was all about her jewlrey, red lipstick & getting her nails done! So, I did a chocolate cake for the bottom tiny tier and made little claw feet, covered it with my silver luster dust and made it into a jewlrey tray, stacked the different cakes on top and decorated them with a nail polish bottle made from a lollipop & fondant, lipstick tub made from chocolate & fondant & red braclet made from modeling chocolate!
What are you most proud of?
Getting them to stack right and stay that way during the trip! :o)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you have a topsy turvey type cake set up and you have the opportunity to put it together at the location - do it! It is much easier with travel and when you try to travel with one put together you risk the fact that some off-placed cakes have the weight distribution off and can do more damage if you hit that pot hole in the road!
