Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Romantic, Cute, Whimsical, Funky

Materials

Fantasy fur, white satin, white satin ribbon, black faux lizard fabric for skirt, purchased gold chain and buttons for skirt embellishment.

What was your inspiration?

Was asked to design an ensemble for a 6 year old. The ensemble was made to accommodate a purchased black turtleneck sweater.

What are you most proud of?

The overall look of the ensemble. It is adorable.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you decide to use Fantasy Fur, plan on having the 'residue' from cutting out the garment pieces floating about your sewing room for time immemorial. Even though I used the vacuum immediately after cutting each piece, little white shiney fibres still show up here and there. Also, after cutting the pieces, I put them in my clothes dryer on 'air fluff' for about 5 minutes to take a good deal of the 'fuzz fibres' away from the garment pieces.

Great little outfit. Is the jacket sewn or crochet. Where did you get the patterns for both.

The jacket is made with 'fantasy fur' fabric and machine sewn. It is lined in satin.. Both patterns are Simplicity, if I remember correctly, and I will try to locate them in the next day or so. The skirt is a faux lizard fabric.
