What was your inspiration?
This was a request from a guy that sais he was throwing his sister a 30th birthday party and that she LOVES purple. At first he was thinking of a simple three tiered cake with fsome flowers on top because they would be a part of the decor of the party...well, being me, I kept asking little questions of what she might like and wall-la I thought of this purse and gift box idea. He feel in love and thought that would fit her perfectly. He asked about making the cake insides purple (no prob) and wondered about adding a cell phone and something to do with her favorite R&B artist...so I thought - what better then a chocolate cell phone like her own, and lets make some edible concert tickets & back stage pass - Ding - ding...and we have a winner! I really had fun working on this one, and couldn't have been any happier with the overwhelming response when I delivered it.
What are you most proud of?
I thought that my purse wasn't too shabby actually, I had to change what type of purse from my original plan to make it fit better on the top present so I thought it worked out pretty good. It was a little tricky to get the handles to stay up because I was using modeling chocolate - SO, knowing that I had an hour long trip to delivery, they probably wouldn't make it so I thought of using some chocolate twizzler sticks as the center for stability, and then simply wrapped the modeling chocolate around - It worked great!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Try not to eat all the modeling chocolate while working on your cakes....you will regret it lol ;o)
