Girl with the Pearl Earring

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual, Romantic

Materials

Cotton fabric, coloured pencils, textile medium, sewing thread

What was your inspiration?

Craftsy Course "Thread Art" with Lola Jenkins looked like a lot of fun, it was great. I was too scared to use a Sharpie marker to trace, so I used a pen. I wanted to be a little different, but couldn't decide what colour for her hat, so I made it look like a silk scarf with lots of colours. Thanks Lola, great teaching, great course. Will definitely do it again.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of forcing myself out of the box and tracing in black and stitching in black. I am not disappointed.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be brave and just do it. So what, you might end up with a great work of art and a lot of satisfaction.

Thanks, this was fun to do. The background looks like lace and flowers, kind of yellow, made sure one of the flowers landed on her cheek.

Beautiful colors, especially on the head wrap! Also love the background quilting.

Thanks, I couldn't decide between red, orange, purple, blue, etc., so I made it look like a silk scarf.
