What was your inspiration?

I have a lot of colorful batik scraps that beckon to me and beg me to dive in. In my effort to "get out of the traditional quilting box", I have started just sewing scraps together and then figuring out how to incorporate that into an art quilt.

What are you most proud of?

I finished it! I also tried a new kind of fusible adhesive. Pellon 800 Clear Fuse is very interesting to work with. I am not totally sold on it. The cellophane backing can be used the same way the parchment backing can after it is peeled off the adhesive, as a press cloth to protect your iron. It is totally transparent which makes it easier to see where you are applying the iron, but it tends to have a lot of static build up, and it immediately clings to whatever it comes near, like your hands. When stitching over fused fabric, it doesn't clog up the needle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Play and enjoy! Step back every once in a while and look at your beautiful creation, and let it take you where it wants to go!
