Back- Velveteen, Borders-Brocade, Blocks- cottons, silks, sateens, brocades, upholstry, etc. and metalic silver sulky thread.

What was your inspiration?

My daughter Geneva and I both LOVE Halloween. Almost more than Christmas. Not long after I started sewing I saw a pattern for the string square blocks and decided to try my hand at making my own pattern. I had always loved crazy quilts so wanted to incorporate some blocks into this...when I got to them I got stuck now knowing how to do them. I put the quilt away and finally about a month ago I got it out and got to work.

What are you most proud of?

FINALLY finishing it! Also trying lots of new things...the quilt as you go style was easier quilting as it turned out very heavy , over 10 pounds, but the seams to connect them really didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Plan to take your time...look for interesting fabrics all over..estate sales, grandma's closet. Make it really personal like I did.
