What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the likeness I captured - it looks just like Jemima!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? See it through to the end........I used to be really bad at not finishing my paintings!

This is so pretty! How did you get the background so dark with watercolor?

Thank you for everyone's lovely comments. I use watercolour in a different way to most people. Basically I'm rubbish at washes so everything is done with a size 0 brush. I don't really use it thickly, but I build it up in layers. For this painting I painted the background with mix of lamp black and burnt umber, then went over it a couple of times with lamp black. The reason for panting it brown first was that the background colour can show through the black a little and it matched in with Geisha Girl's fur. Actually the cat is my beautiful cat Jemima and the plant is Chaeonomeles Geisha Girl (Japanese Quince). :o)

Beautiful painting! Everything about it, the cat is wonderful and the flowers a very nice touch. Keep up the good work!
