What materials did you use? Assorted floral prints, green tone on tone, cotton thread, Marti Michell's log cabin ruler 8037

What are you most proud of? How quickly this one came together. I had just finished another log cabin out of the same book and fell in love with the look of log cabins and decided to make another one.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Always read the directions all the way through. I ended up with more cut pieces than I really needed but it was good in case I had an "oops" in the mix. Also, lay out your fabrics either on a design board or on a table close to you so that you can get the look you're going for. Most importantly, have fun!

My log cabin square gets wonky after about 3 rounds. How can I mAKE IT COME OUT EVEN AND STRAIGHT?

Some generic tips: make sure that your seam allowance is the same all the way through. I have a 1/4 inch foot on my machine that keeps me in line. If you don't have one of those, I suggest using washi tape or something similar to mark a 1/4 from your needle and tape it all the way from the front to the back on the lower portion of the machine so as your fabric glides along you know to keep the edge of the fabric next to the first edge of the tape mark. Make sure your fabric edges are lined up with one another, sometimes if I'm in a hurry my fabric can get out of line. Be careful when you are ironing your fabrics open. A gentle iron and fold over is all you need. Tugging on the fabric can make it go wonky. I don't pin my fabrics until I'm seam matching so it gives me room to stop and make sure everything is lining up. I hope that helps. Good luck!
