These are vanilla cake pops with milk chocolate buttercream dipped in dark chocolate dyed black with candy color and hand painted with luster dust and petal dust.

It's a trick of color layering and luster. The first layers of color were done using petal dust in various shades of blue, purple, and dark pinks. To create variation, I painted on some of dust mixed into a paste with alcohol and some of it just dry. Then I layer on similar but lighter color shades in dust and finished it with "stars" in platinum luster dust. I also did a large cake for this party using the same technique on black fondant but steamed it to seal the color when I was finished and added various sizes of edible diamonds. It was a lot of fun! technique took me longer than planned, however, so i rushed to the delivery without a picture of the big cake! Bummer!
