Galaxy print cake pops
Share a little about the ingredients and techniques used to create this dish/item.
These are vanilla cake pops with milk chocolate buttercream dipped in dark chocolate dyed black with candy color and hand painted with luster dust and petal dust.
Alright, you have to tell us how to do those! Just comment under this project and tell us how to do that! Great job!
It's a trick of color layering and luster. The first layers of color were done using petal dust in various shades of blue, purple, and dark pinks. To create variation, I painted on some of dust mixed into a paste with alcohol and some of it just dry. Then I layer on similar but lighter color shades in dust and finished it with "stars" in platinum luster dust. I also did a large cake for this party using the same technique on black fondant but steamed it to seal the color when I was finished and added various sizes of edible diamonds. It was a lot of fun! technique took me longer than planned, however, so i rushed to the delivery without a picture of the big cake! Bummer!
