I was inspired by seeing a pair of high heel funky shoes and children's shoes. I decided to created an art piece. I used a cradle board as my base. I used gesso, acrylic paint, canvas sheet, fabric, ribbon, buttons, cheese cloth, buttons, and acrylic paints to create, the "funky" look. For the children's shoe, I used a feather. I have included other pieces of art. The only piece not available are the high shoes.
What was your inspiration?
In a shoe store I saw a pair of high heal shoes made with different materials. I took a picture and created my own version. The children's shoes were inspired by seeing childrens shoes.
My art is inspired by what I encounter in my day to day, in nature, shopping or whatever I see in books.
What are you most proud of?
That I am willing to explore. I love to start with an idea and then let the piece unfold, telling its own story. Sometines that may come from an image in a dream, or a feeling I want to portray. In that way it has a life of it's own and I as the artist share in that life story.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I will talk about the children's shoe piece. Gather the materials and allow them to speak to you. I had the outline of the shoes cut out and then I allowed my intuition to guide me, painted first, then what pieces of fabric, ribbons, buttons wanted to be used. It took on a life of its own. I must say, I love working out of the box and seeing what turns up.
