Fun in the Finger Lakes
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Whimsical, Funky

Materials

Scraps of fabric, yarn, fabric selvages, zipper, and fringe

What was your inspiration?

I have been saving selvages since I opened my studio in 2009 - and was waiting for something to do with them. I started cutting them apart and discovered words that really describe the beauty of the Finger Lakes and the wonderful women I sew with. Plus, I teach public speaking and have always loved words, so this is now in my office at work.

What are you most proud of?

Just doing it. I kept saving and saving (and collecting selvages from other people). One day I just decided to go for it. I entered it a Sew Mama Sew contest. I think that contest pushed me to get it done, too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't over think - just cut the words out and start putting them on the fabric. I love the couching foot, so try that, too.

Ha! Thanks. I may make a few more, possibly tell a story if I can find enough words that go together!
