Materials

Some metal cutters and veiners. Gum paste. Dusting powders.

What was your inspiration?

Enlarging the single hibiscus to a bouquet.

What are you most proud of?

That this can inspired others to create their ideas.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Dusting food powders can be messy, especially the reds. They tend to tint everything around your work surface, including yourself. Be thorough when protecting your work environment. This will make cleanup easier and quicker.

I happened to be driving in my area and actually saw an hibiscus with these markings. So this became a chanllenge for me to see if I could duplicate the real 'McCoy".

Thank you. It seems that competition comes from the silk flower industry. But when friends realize that these come from an small pile of sugar then I think we have them beat.
