What materials did you use? Velvet, bull denim, metal corset bones, bias binding, metal eyelets, corset laces.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Corsets aren't difficult if you have the basic sewing skills well-grounded, but they are very time-comsuming and you have to be very precise at every stage, from fitting to eyelet punching. There are some really good books and videos on the market if you look hard enough. It's also very rewarding :-).

THis is gorgeous! Where in the world did you find that printed velvet?

In a tiny little back street old style shop in Camden Town, London, about 20 years ago when I was at college. The shop doesn't exist now. It was going really cheap in the sale too, and I wish I'd bought up the remainder, but I only had enough money for a couple of yards!

Sorry to take so long to reply! The velvet came from a tiny little shop in Camden, London, which has undoubtedly closed down now, and I was lucky enough to find it on sale, although not lucky enough to have any of my student grant left to buy up the whole bale. I have enough left to make a short Victorian corset :-)
