Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Outdoorsy, Hipster, Cute, Casual

Materials

Leather, embroidery thread

What was your inspiration?

I've been playing with leather and really wanted a belt bag that would keep things handy while on the motorcycle.

What are you most proud of?

I couldn't find a pattern for what I wanted so I took elements that I liked from photos online and it worked out ok - I learned a lot along the way.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Buy lots of needles - the leather seems to chew them up. If embroidering on leather, choose a light (not dense) embroidery design and slow your machine down.

How did the machine embroidery go through your machine on what looks like leather? This is very attractive, I could use one for riding horses too.

The embroidery was fine- the leather is not real thick. if you use a light embroidery design, slow your machine down and use the smallest needle (80-12 or 90-14 embroidery) possible you should have success. I also float my leather instead of hooping it. Good luck and have fun!

love this bag. I know what you mean about being on a bike and having a bag that is accessible but not likely to fall off you when riding.

Thanks - it's really functional. We ride motorcycles, so the snaps on the side of the bag hook on to my belt loops, while keeping my phone and $$ close at hand. I also used it at a concert so I was hands free all night - I guess it's just an updated version of a fanny pack!
