Fred A-Bear

Before Finishing Off

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Amigurumi: Woodland Animals »

Instructions

This is the second pattern for the class, the bear.

I'm still bad at following instructions. In addition to scaling down to a thinner yarn (which is pretty elastic as well and caused me much trouble at my current skill level), I added a crocheted-in collar with a trim, a crochet top hat, and a cane.

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

For: Other

Materials

Lion brand "Vanna's Glamour" yarn in Onyx, Diamond, Topaz, and Copper. F hook. The same yarn in Onyx and Diamond, a bamboo skewer, and some white glue for the cane. 12mm brown craft/animal eyes and an animal nose.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The stretchy yarn and small hook (F is small for me!) made this very difficult, but a great learning experience.

I didn't attatch the pieces very precisely; a more careful arrangement would look better. In particular, the arms and legs kind of run together like sausages (maybe I stuffed them too full as well) and would do better offset (arms facing more in than the legs), the nose isn't *quite* right-side up and centered, and the ears are a little more off-center than I'd like.
