This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

I had leftover blocks from my first project for this class, so decided to make a few more and put them in another quilt. I reduced the size of the NY Beauty blocks to 4", which is small for setting in the curves, so I used a reverse-applique technique to make it more fun for me.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Casual

Materials

Cotton batiks

What was your inspiration?

I had leftover blocks from my first quilt for this class, and they were too pretty to waste, so I designed another quilt around them.

What are you most proud of?

That I wasn't afraid of yellow.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Peggy is a great teacher, just do what she says and you'll have great results.

I've had my eye on this pattern for a long time. This is amazing to me. I love the color combination and the batiks, I think the batiks give the quilt a very natural look.

Thank you. I love the Mariner's Compass pattern, too, have done a few of them this past year. But Peggy's strip-foundation method makes it so much easier to make the blocks! As for the batiks, yes, I'm a batik girl :-)

What a great design!! When I saw your quilt, I wondered if some of the blocks were from your previous project - what a great way to use them! Your border and setting are both very nicely done - just love it!

Can't tell you how many alternate borders i went through on this one, and finally decided to be fearless with yellow!
