Cotton materials, threads of various colors of embroidered butterflies to represent different forms of cancer ribbons, krienik and metallic threads - Every thread in this quilt was chosen to represent the types of cancer including the free form quilting.
What was your inspiration?
I wanted to created something that was not only representative of Breast Cancer but representative of all forms of cancer and disease as we have had several close friends lost to various forms. I took the colors used in this quilt from the about.com site - for cancer ribbon colors and then just started to quilt.
What are you most proud of?
I love the embroidered butterflies and the wording on each side of the quilt.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time - I had planned on having a few weeks to finish this project - but due to a family illness - had to fly home a week before the cancer fundraiser. Needless to say - I only had one day to quilt, package and complete........I was definitely pressed for time - but all in all - I think it turned out quite nice. Hopefully - It will raise some money through the raffle/silent auction.
