What was your inspiration?
I decided that since Lola [mom] had two quilts, it was time for Jose Luis [dad] to have his own quilt. What head of household would not like his name monogrammed? So the quilt is a HUGE monogram. No mistaking who it's for.
What are you most proud of?
Like my dad, this quilt is pretty straight forward, no frills. I think he'll like it. While the piecing is pretty simple and minimal, the details are in the quilting. I did a diamond shape in the center, filled it with small stippling. The blue lettering has a larger "zippling" which is like stippling, but all straight lines and angles. I highlighted the letter H with the zippling in gold thread, and I also echoed the diamond so it looked like it was "moving out". My camera is crappy, so it may not have captured the full effect, but I think it looks good. That's it! I'm done with Christmas gift quilts [for now].
