awesome cake! what colors did you use to get that deep purple? I'm trying to achieve the same colors but im having a bit trouble. any help would be appreciated!

I used Regalice Amethyst and then kept adding white to the mix as I went along:-)

Yes! gorgeous this one looks a little different than Maggie's video showed though so what did u do differently??? Maybe not so ruffled? Longer pieces of fondant? Or gum paste ?

Thank you Maggie. I'm honored to read this from you. @ CakeLady: lol, I know, it does look different doesn't it? ;-). What did I do differently? I didn't have a celpin so I used a stainless steel ball tool. I think my strips may have been larger than Maggies. Also, i did a 50-50 mix of fondant and gumpaste so the layers were more "set" and less soft as they would have been using fondant. When it came time to separate the layers, it was a bit tricky. I know this doesn't look as dainty as Maggies frills, but I really love how it turned out in the end. I like to call it Shabby-Chic:-)
