This piece was made after viewing some - not all - of Cindy Needham's classes 'Design it, Quilt it'. I really enjoyed playing with the variegated thread.Difficulty:
Category: Quilting
Type of item: Home Decor

Style: Traditional
Materials
Fabric, cotton batting and thread
What was your inspiration?
Cindy Needham was my inspiration. When she was talking about using ordinary stationary stencils I realized that I had bought a template with lots of different circles on it. I wanted to try FMQ the grid to see if I could keep relatively within the lines. I think there is a lot more work needed on the feathers and pearls. (I could pretend I was going for a fresh-water pearls effect....but really I am just not great a doing circles without a drawn line. More practice needed.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that I was able to stay within the grids and be relatively straight. But there is a lot more work to do, as you can see.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Vary the threads you use for different effects in sunshine and shadow.
