This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Free Motion Quilting a Sampler »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Other

Style: Casual

Materials

Isacord thread, cotton fabric and cotton batting.

What are you most proud of?

My traveling stitches. When I made my first practice piece, I noticed that my traveling needed a lot of work, so I went to Leah's blog, freemotionquilting.blogspot.com, and found traveling designs. I chose "interlocking Ts" and 'cucumber vine."
I'm excited to see a little improvement! :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice what seems to be your weakest point, and everything else will get easier.

What an excellent way to showcase so many different designs! I really hope other students will give this a try!

It was a little challenging to choose a design... And you're absolutely right, the more you practice, the easier it gets. I'm almost done with my third practice piece! Thank you for all the great suggestions and tips; I've enjoyed yournclass very much! :)

Great piece, I have yet to get brave enough to try something this big. You've inspired me.

Thanks Tina! My first try was a table runner; it's also posted in my projects. I made a 10"-square piece to practice stippling for that one; the runner is about 45' X 20" or 23'. So, I got a lot of practice with that one. After that, I started with the practice pieces; each 18" X 18", and took my time with each square. This particular piece took me 5 days to finish; I quilted for about 1 hour each time.
