What are you most proud of? I have only done applique one other time and had used hand stitching for that project. For "Fly With Me," I used a satin stitch and variegated thread to applique the planes to the quilt block. I was also really proud of how perfect my blocks turned out. The seems all came together beautifully! I quilted this using a walking foot on my domestic sewing machine.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have fun with it! What could be more exciting that making an heirloom quilt for a newly-formed human being! The parents are former neighbors of mine and they couldn't believe that I had made a home-made quilt for their soon-to-arrive baby boy. There is nothing more fun than giving someone a gift you are proud of!

And so proud you can be ! It is a stunning quilt for baby Wesley and the mum to be is not only glowing due to her pregnancy on that picture. The little planes break up the graphics so nicely. I especially like your idea using a multicoloured (variegated) thread to applique the clouds and wings with on your quilt. It really stands out !
