Materials

Butterfly print cotton fabric, sunflower buttons

What was your inspiration?

Butterflies! I just love them, even in print form! I found this beautiful cotton fabric on sale at Hancock Fabrics which was perfect for the pattern I've had in my stash for a while (circa 1994.)

What are you most proud of?

I finished it! and it fits! it turned out very cute, even if it is a little juvenile for me.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This project was pretty easy, but practice your buttonholes first on scrap fabric. I used a cute sunflower button that was a little larger than indicated on the pattern's notions list, and I'm glad I did some sample buttonholes first, because I did have to make them bigger to accommodate the buttons I chose.

I remember this pattern! loved it. Even though I'm not busty, I remember having to add a hook and eye at the front where the bodice seams to the skirt...strange what we remember, huh? Love your dress, makes me smile.

Thanks Pam! I had another pattern like this, long ago, that I loved but have since lost. I'm pretty sure I found this one at a thrift store. I plan to wear this tomorrow for Mother's Day! ...better pack a hook-and-eye, just in case, right? :)
