This is such a beautiful way to present a gift! You can also use a tissue paper flower on top (scroll to the bottom of the tutorial on the link)

This sort of presentation will make the gift recipient appreciate the gift even before she opens it! (Great for mom for Mother's Day!)

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to handmake a gift box with a really cute top. I recently recieved a gift that was packaged so beautifully that I was so thrilled to receive it - even more so since the giver had taken the time to have it so beautifully wrapped.

What are you most proud of?

Reusing old magazines to make the flower on top. You could even paint them to make them less "magaziney" if you wanted to.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun! And use it for your mom's mother's day gift! She'll love it!
