Granny"s Flower Garden is one of the oldest blocks and it is such fun _ you can do so much with it. Love your quilt

Love this quilt - would be cute with yo-yo centers on flowers (my granddaughters (ages 8 and 9) would love to make them for me too!! Then would be a nice surprise quilt for each of them one day!!

How funny...before I looked down and saw this post, I was thinking to myself, "One could put a yo yo in the center"

My mom before she passed away in 2000 hand sewed the Grandmother's flower garden top for me and now I have to set it together and quilt it. I have decided yet how I will set it together and might do it similar to this!!! I cry every time I pick it up to work on it!!! That is why it is taking so long to make!! You did a beautiful job on this one!!!!

Thanks. I don't have the machine to properly quilt. Instead I hand sew and what I have decided to do is to physically stitch around each of the black squares and then around the final border. It will look as good as if it was machine quilted. At least I hope it will. Keep up with your project and you will finish it when you least expect.

Making the hexagons by hand makes it a "carry along" project.

It was easy to hand quilt each of the flowers on the train going to and coming from work, I have an hour each way so I got through quite a few and didn't take that long in the end. I machined the black on the weekends or after tea.
