Cotton yarn in your favorite colours, hairclips of your choice, matching sewing thread, glass beads, crochet hook (2-3 mm)

What was your inspiration?

I was crocheting some jewelry with very fine yarns for a few days and my fingers started to ache... so I took out some cotton yarn to play around a little bit. I made similar flowers than the ones I used for a necklace, easy to make but really cute, and thought of hairclips at once...

What are you most proud of?

I really love the look of these cuties... and they are so easy to make! And there is no need to always make green leaves: I made a hairclip for a customer, who wanted it for her little daughter's christening, and I used white for the flower and a light beige for the leaves and added a glass bead in a light caramel tone: Pretty! Just give it a try!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just try it! They are so quick and easy to make! And I think they are also perfect for beginners, and you can make some for yourself, your children and/or your best friend in an afternoon. Cotton yarn is not expensive and is available in many bright colours - and you can also use up your scrap yarn. Experiment with different yarns also! Maybe some glittering yarn for the next party, mohair for a fluffy autumn flower or silk for a very elegant look. Just play around!
