What was your inspiration?

I wanted to create a quilt of appliqued flowers. I designed it on EQ5. I hand appliqued the blocks and outlined the motifs with embroidery stitches.

What are you most proud of?

I loved the look of the border blocks when they were completed. I hand embroidered the inside star and the outside of the flower in the border blocks.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Plan lots of time.

Thank you. I enjoy doing hand applique in the evenings while I spend time with my husband. But I also enjoy machine applique as well.

Absolutely beautiful! I have embroidery software and an embroidery design CD for Baltimore (inspired) quilts. I just love the designs, but to have appliqued them all I think is remarkable. I guess they would have hand appliqued the entire quilt top by hand back in colonial times, but now days its wonderful that you took the time to make it a true heirloom by doing so much handwork. I have never quilted before, well other than piecing a few easy blocks to create a table runner top (which I haven't put together yet). So forgive me if my comments don't make any sense. At any rate, its beautiful and you should be very proud.
