Materials

Medium blue crochet cotton, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - 4; a size 8 (1.50 mm) steel crochet hook; stitch markers; and a 5/8" diameter curtain rod.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a valance to coordinate with the wallpaper we had in our kitchen which had little blue flowers.

What are you most proud of?

I really like the way this turned out with the scalloped edge and the rod pocket incorporated into the design. I also love this color and have made this valance in varying widths for the last three houses we've lived in.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a typical filet crochet pattern and is worked from the top down. The filet chart is followed for the body of the valance with additional detailed instructions for the scallops.

The finished size is 67-1/2" wide x 16-1/4" long (from top of rod pocket). Instructions are included to increase the width in 11-1/4" increments.
