Instructions

If you use the same yarn that I used, begin with less chains than the pattern calls for or you will end up with a huge afghan, not baby sized.

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Children

Style: Classic

Materials

Bernat Satin in Mocha and Seashell, Dark Chocolate ribbon, and a G hook.

What was your inspiration?

I love to crochet baby items. Heirloom pieces are my favorite. This pattern seemed easy and quick enough. It was not as easy nor quick, but the effort was worth every minute. I hoped to make something a little more modern color-wise. I think it was a decent attempt.

What are you most proud of?

It took me a month in between work hours, but I finished it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I plan to make it again in different colors, but I would experiment with not finishing off the ends at every color change but instead carrying the bit along the edges and picking it up again as there is a border that I think would cover it pretty well. Above all, be patient with it. The ruffles seem to take longer than the body itself, but they are the highlight of the blanket.
