Flanelette shirt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Classic Tailored Shirt »

Instructions

I ordered this fabric over the net and too my surprise the plaid was printed on the bias. Due to this I decided to match the plaid on the back yolk and pockets.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Outdoorsy

Materials

Printed Plaid Flanelette

What was your inspiration?

My mums partner wanted a flanelette shirt

What are you most proud of?

matching the plaids and the tower plackets - first shirt with proper cuffs.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Flanelette is easy to work with as it is easy to ease around curves - but it is more bulky than plain woven shirt fabric.

Thanks Barbara ... so spot on I guess you missed that this shirt has two pockets ... the flanelette is actually alot easier to match up precisely as it has some give. Thanks for commenting.

Hi!, This shirt is Fab-U-Lous!! I love the way you've matched the yoke and pockets. Great tower plackets too! The whole lay out of the shirt is very pleasing to the eye. Your Mum's partner will really love it:-)) Thanks! Pam

Thanks Pam ... I was a bit worried when the fabric arrived with the print on the diagonal but am really pleased with the final result ... makes it more interesting than the standard plaid flannel shirt.

Thanks Scheri ... the shirt is on the straight grain but the fabric was unexpectedly printed on the diagonal (I ordered it online and did not realise) however it worked out for the best in the end - a much more interesting shirt.

Thanks Calumn ... but no bias cuts of fabric - just a diagonal print.
