Instructions

On Fit Adventure 1, the pockets sagged a bit (fabric was a bit slippery) so on Fit Adventure 2, I inserted a zipper on the pockets by cutting the pocket opening 1 inch below the cut edge instead of 5/8 inch below. Since I never wear anything tucked in, it's not really a problem. But it was fun to play with the zipper idea.
To make zipping the side zipper a little easier, I added a tab inside ...

What was your inspiration?

I have always wanted to take a class from Sandra Betzina. Thanks to Craftsy for making this possible!

What are you most proud of?

I really worked hard on the fit, and it was worth it. I learned so much by slowing down and enjoying the process.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make and adjust the muslin as directed in the class. But give yourself permission to be just as critical about the fit after you finally work with your fashion fabric. It's just different from the muslin. I think for the next pair, I'm going to try inserting a back zipper--that way, I can adjust both sides as much as I need to for the fashion fabric.

The suggestion for a tab on the side zipper was also very helpful. I have been dithering between a back zipper and the side zipper as I am not as flexible as I used to be (not as young either) and I find the side zip difficult to zip all the way to the top. Thank you.

Your pants are great! Thanks for the recommendation about the back zipper. Although I haven't started, I was thinking of doing the side zipper, but you changed my mind.

Love the zippers! Maybe I can have my welt pockets after all. You've done a great job. I can't wait for my pattern to arrive so I can start playing. I am determined to have a good pair of linen slacks for the summer. Thanks for sharing - it gives me hope! LOL

I agree with you about a side zipper impeding adjustment of side seams. I have a bubble beneath my side zipper. However, placing the zipper in the back makes it difficult to adjust the rear. For example, the fabric slid between my buttock and i had to adjust that. It would have been very difficult to do this had the zipper been in the back. Your pants are beautiful. The outfit is worth a million dollars.

These are fabulous - love the pockets and the fit is perfect for you. I'm on the course too and am new to sewing so its slow going. I hope to end up with something half as good as yours !
