For the top, I created a top from the dress pattern Butterick 5313 (view B). I used this because the bodice is short and fitted, it had the sleeves, I just needed to raise the neckline and add the turtleneck. For the skirt, Mimi G's Style tutorial for her knit pencil skirt was my inspiration. Both were very easy and can be made in about 3 hours.

Not sure of the exact contents of this fabric, but it feels like a rayon-lycra knit. It has a 4-way stretch and a divine feel to it.
What was your inspiration?
I actually had a new client to call me up and request this outfit for her birthday. She was out of town working and called me up looking for someone to make her this out fit for the weekend ( she was coming in town to celebrate her b-day with family and friends).
She called me on a Tuesday, She came in town on a Wednesday, and the out fit was in her hands on Friday afternoon. Sn=he was very excited about it!
What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the fact that I could create and give her the look that she wanted site unseen and she left very pleased!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
As I mentioned already, I made the skirt using Mimi G Style, Knit pencil skirt tutorial. The first time I made this skirt for myself, I thought my hips were too wide to just go by my waist measurements. I learned not to reinvent the wheel. Instructions are instructions for a reason. Mimi also says in her tutorial to choose a knit that's not so thin. This style skirt has zero ease, so the thinner the fabric, the more see through it will be.
I would also advise letting the skirt hang ,as I did in one of the photos, before hemming it, This will allow the skirt to stretch out and fall so you'll have the exact length you desire. If not the skirt will grow on you.
