What materials did you use? Cotton and polyester recycled fabrics; doll velour; heavy gauge wire; wool roving for hair; felt for shoes; cardboard; polyester stuffing; chenille sticks; beads; pima permanent pens; watercolour pencils.

What are you most proud of? The quirkiness of the doll and the way she stands up on her own. She is quite detailed in that she has sardines in her apron pocket, a fishing rod with a fish on it, little fish earrings and a another big fish under her arm. I've made her as a surprise present for a lady who lives on the Cornish coast where there is a large fishing community, and with whom we are going to have a holiday shortly.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It all goes together a lot more easily that you would think. You would need proper tools for turning the fingers, but they are easily available on the internet. The pattern is by Jill Maas, a designer who lives in New Zealand and is very easy to follow.

Patz, she is terrific.

Thank you! I hope the lady I've made it for will like her - I think it's one of those presents the recipient will either love or hate!

Patz, I'm laughing so hard! She is simply adorable! I absolutely love your little ladies, each on so original. You have such an imagination and a great sense of humor, too.!

Fishy Flossie seems to make everyone smile! I've been in touch by email with Jill Maas, the pattern's designer, and have sent her photographs as well. She's the clever one - all I've done is follow her very clear instructions and had a lot of fun doing so!

Hi Pat, long time no Craftsy for me, despite enrolling in loads of classes ! Have looked at all your projects since my last visit, all I can say is wow, they are super, this has to be my favourite, she is gorgeous. K x

Thank you - she now has a half-sister - literally "half"! I don't know when I will finish her. Like you, I'e not done much for a while in the Craftsy area. I'm becoming concerned that I won't live long enough to complete all the projects that I have the materials for! I'll have to make it to my 200th birthday to do that!

Hi Pat I am replying on my original post as there isn't a reply button for your posted reply. I have the denim for the Angela Woolf class but put on half a stone so want to get that off before I start, same with the bra making class - I also have serger class etc etc but just so little time to do anything which is really very frustrating, hey ho.....thankfully I don't have masses of material. I have made some bags and bits and bobs, including Luna Lapin who has a whole wardrobe of clothes. K
