Materials

Kodak EasyShare Z950 camera, yarn I dyed, and a bowl I threw and glazed last year. Taken on the front porch in cloudy/drizzly weather a few hours before sunset. Used Photoshop for the first time. Getting the colors to photograph true is often difficult, hence the bowl and bench (for a grey). I'm trying to figure out ways to make yarn closeups look good, show enough color variation of the skeins, and still have it be an interesting photograph. And any time I can get the color bang-on realistic is good, since I hate post processing.

Nice! There's only so many ways to photograph a skein on yarn and I think the bowl sets these pictures apart without being distracting. Is this your own hand dyed? doesn't take away from the color of the yarn and sets these pictures apart from other

These are looking good! For colour accurateness, you can always leave a grey card or item around the edges of the photo for cropping out after you make your colour corrections. Means you can have closeups without the distraction of backgrounds or such. For your next homework (I'm a demanding teacher!) try and play with the focus too. Some of these it looks like the camera has the bench in focus and the yarn soft focused. The colour on these looks pretty good!
