Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This cake was made for a friend who was off to uni and minion crazy! It was my first time ever icing a cake and I learnt alot. When making the cake I stacked 12 inch cakes on top of another to get the height, between each layer there was buttercream and a crumb coat on the outside. With the icing I brought a liquid food colouring this is a big NO it stains everywhere and makes the fondant to sticky to work with I soon changed and got a home2bake gel colouring just a cheaper option for the wilton gel... once coloured I rolled out a square big enough to cover the cake and rolled it over, for the hair I used small black balls of fondant and nipped the top so that it gave the spike effect then cut out and stuck the eyes on with a tiny bit of water... first attempt and learnt loads from it.
